Today I met Mel up at the Florissant Fossil Beds. She showed me around and bit and I got to see a fossil digging pit, which was pretty cool. However, the weather was somewhat foreboding, so we called it a day. I'm totally going back up there though because it's flat! So amazing, I could actually walk around and not die. So yes, another trip is in the future. I started back down but was quickly sidetracked because of a sign that pointed me towards the Florissant Cemetery. I found it and spent probably an hour wandering around and taking pictures. This is my favorite gravestone.
It looks like someone really cared and wanted to make something special even though they obviously didn't have a lot of money. The whole cemetery was pretty cool, but the stuff at the beginning was the best since it was the pioneer stuff and not the more recent stuff. There were a lot of unknown graves and a fair amount of unknown infant graves. I'll probably go again.

I ended up not taking the apartment I was talking about last week. Instead, I got a much cheaper one that's across the street from where I work. Moving weekend is August 15th. Anyone know someone in Denver who has a truck/wants to help me move?
Also I have apparently hurt my ankle by sitting still. Really, I sat down and then twenty minutes later I can't move my ankle without it hurting. Odd. Yesterday I injured myself on a colander. Ow.

NEWS!
Just leased a new apartment. It's way closer to where I work (I live about 40 minutes away now) and it's the nicest thing I will ever live in. Seriously. I have a personal garage. And a washer/dryer. And a dishwasher. And a deck. And a "retreat" built onto the bedroom. I am over the moon. It's more than I wanted to pay, but I can still swing it if I'm a little frugal. And it'll be awesome.

I love my kitten. He found the stuffed mole I made years ago for mol day (Chemistry thing). It is his new favorite toy and he runs around with it in his mouth. Seriously cute. Since I got a job (still yay!) I started looking for a friend for Jack. I went to one shelter yesterday but they didn't have many young cats (which is what I'm looking for). I did play with an 11 week old kitten though who was adorable but probably too high maintenance for me. Plus, she scratched me pretty badly. Kittens have sharp claws. I will check out another shelter tomorrow and see what they have. I start the job on Monday. Eeee!

I love my kitten. Except when he wakes me up at 3 am. Then I'm kinda pissed. He has an obsession with trying to climb the walls or be as high up as possible. He sits on my file cabinet and contemplates jumping to the top of the bookshelf, which there's no way he can do but I kinda want to see him try because it would be funny. I think once I get a real job I'll get a second cat to keep him company and possibly keep him from waking me up at 3 am (he isn't allowed into my room at night, he wakes me up by crying and scratching at the door).

So I was just poking around online trying to discover the closest library (there's like, 3 systems all converging on where I live) and I found out the name of the library I passed the other day. Columbine. Turns out that right by the bagel shop I've been going to is Columbine High School. I had no idea I was that close to it. Just a strange little thing I found out. Now off to bed and to play my new PSP game.

I have the cutest kitten in the world. Seriously. He's curled up next to me keeping my feet warm. So damn cute. Also, I made a kick ass dinner that was almost entirely hand made. It was super yummy. Mmmm.

This whole having weather thing is amazing. We're supposed to get 8 to 16 inches of snow over tomorrow. Today it was fairly pleasant, if slightly cold at 8 in the morning when all the handscorers who showed up early (myself included) had to stand around for 20 minutes before getting let into the building. I kinda hope work is canceled tomorrow as I have two scarflets to work on and get out hopefully this weekend. On the other hand, money is good even though the training is very boring. I kinda fell asleep today because everyone else works so slowly. I got 100% on my first qualifying round though. *is smug*
My kitten is feeling much better and spent most of the evening sitting on me in some way. For about an hour he decided that he was really a parrot and I was a pirate and he perched on my shoulder. When that got old (ie I needed to move) I shifted him down and cuddled him for another couple of hours. Then I grabbed him by the scruff and forced evil medicine into him. It smells like bananas. I think it smells good, but he disagrees. My poor baby.

So my cat is sick. I took him back to the vet today and got more medication for him and he got some fluids and a shot of stuff. Poor baby, he's so stuffed up he can't breathe. Plus I keep wiping his nose which he dislikes. But he just needs to suck it up. Going to the post office tomorrow to mail a bunch of stuff and then work starts on Wednesday. I really need to start looking for a real job for when this thing is over. Also, I kinda love Denver weather. It was 70 yesterday and on Thursday and Friday it's supposed to snow.

I am feeling much better, thank god. I don't know if my cat is feeling better (he has a cold) but at least he's stopped sneezing. Also, I feel bad but it's so cute when he snores. He's afraid of all the toys I got him, but he really liked watching the ball winder I just got. And I finally opened the last box. Note I said opened, not unpacked. Though I did finally find my knitting books and all my video game books. I'll leave it up to you to decide which set of books I was looking for.

My new place is by a bar. I kinda like the noise. It's good background noise, steady and a little distant, totally unlike the noise of the U-District. My new place is also near a Federal "corrections" facility. Not that close, but I noticed it on the way to the Dairy Queen. I have to ask, why is Denver against drive through Dairy Queens? I got a cat. His name is Jack (named after Captain Jack Harkness because I'm a dork). He's a sweetie who likes to climb on me, something I mind much less now that his nails are trimmed. I have the flu, but for the first time in a few days I'm feeling OK. The Simpsons is pretty funny and is all available on-line for free. It's very nice to watch when you're ill. So is Get Smart. And now I'm going to go to sleep.

So I told my parents about the plan so I figured I'd clue everyone in. On Monday I am leaving Seattle for Denver. I am driving (with the help of Anna) there which should take about 3 days. I have an apartment and a (temporary) job and I'm super excited!

I am still a mouth breather but its getting better. I managed to run errands today, which is good. Tomorrow and Sunday are uber-busy days as I prepare for phase 2 of my super secret plan which will commence early Monday morning (Anna, call me or stop by after work tomorrow so we can chat/play with toys from the Buy More). Also, apparently there is a Husky football game tomorrow. I hate it when there's football games because the drunk people get drunker and louder. Especially if the Huskies win. Oh well, that's what NyQuil is for.

I am still sick. SICK!! I spent almost all of today asleep. I got up, ate, slept again, and now I'm up. But I'm going to go to sleep later. Ahhh, drugs. Hopefully I'll be able to do more than sleep tomorrow since I have errands to run.
